Screen Printing Machines

Screen Printing Machines are used for a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink blocking stencil. The stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink as a sharp edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, this will force or pump to ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, this forces the ink through the mesh onto the printing surface. The process may also be known as silk screening or serigraphy. The screen that is used on the printing machinery is made out of a piece of porous, this is a finely woven fabric that is known as mesh and is stretched across a frame that is made out of either wood or aluminium. Human hair was originally used then silk was woven on to the screen mesh. At present most of the mesh is made out of man made materials such as steel, nylon and polyester. Areas of the screen may also be blocked off this is done with a non permeable material to form a stencil, this is a negative of the image to be printed, that is a open space where the ink will appear.
